Usopp is searching for a special pair of goggles to complete his 'stocking up' in Loguetown. He finds an extraordinary pair of Marine sniper goggles at a junkshop only to realize that he accidentally left his wallet outside. In the moments that he rushes outside to retrieve it, a little blonde girl dashes inside and purchases it with a snide remark as to "tough luck". Angry, Usopp stomps out of the shop after her and tries to convince her to hand the goggles over—willing to pay for it—when the girl calmly skips away and hands the goggles to her father, a famous bounty hunter. The famed bounty hunter, Daddy Masterson, is quite protective of his little girl and challenges Usopp to a duel, after Usopp's lies cannot get him out of the sticky situation. They gather outside the city to have a formal duel with guns and Usopp chickens out at the last minute. Daddy refuses to let him run away like a coward and when things get dangerous, Nami, who was watching on the sidelines, intervenes on Usopp's behalf. When Daddy mocks him for hiding behind a woman, Usopp is enraged and finally finds the courage to stand up for himself. When Daddy discovers that Usopp is the son of Yasopp, the only man that ever beat him, he challenges him to prove what he's got by shooting a far weather vane rooster. Usopp succeeds and Carol gives him the goggles. Usopp is now encouraged to continue his adventures and hopes to meet his father along the Grand Line.
